An important & rare 800 silver medal struck for the occasion of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes – Paris, 1925. Signed P.Turin. Hallmarked with the French silver 'Cornucopia' poincon and "2 Argent" (800 silver). With the original fitted presentation case.

Pierre Turin (1891-1968) was an accomplished French medallist who studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieur de Beaux Arts and was a pupil of Frederic de Vernon, Auguste Paley and Jules Coulan.
He worked in the 'Art Déco' style, his most noted commission was for this medal.
*This medal is more commonly found in bronze but also in an alloy of copper or white metal. Rarely are they found with their original presentation cases
The Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris 1925 was a landmark exposition that showcased the very best of France's Fine & Decorative Art, industrial designers and manufacturers. Some of it's notable exhibitors included René Lalique, Emile Jacques Ruhlmann and Edgar Brandt among others.
It was from this exposition that the style that we now term as 'Art Déco', became popularised and filtered through Europe and the rest of the world to become an enduring international style.
