A rare Art Déco medallion. The obverse depicting Marianne - the female personification of France -breaking free from shackles, representing liberation from the German occupation during WWII. The reverse commemorating the repatriation of French prisoners of war and deportees from Belgium in 1945, with the Croix de Lorraine superimposed over a V for victory. Signed "P. Turin with fitted presentation case.
