A striking Art Déco gilt & cold painted bronze sculpture of a semi-nude dancer performing a high kick. Mounted on a cylindrical green marble base. Signed 'Morante' in the bronze.

French, Circa 1925.

This sculpture exhibits wonderful movement & balance from all angles. 'High Kick' is not the original title but one given to this model at some point in time and is the commonly used one. No biographical details of the sculptor 'Morante' have been found on any internet searches. Often 'Jean-Pierre Morante' or 'J.P. Morante' is seen and referenced as such in Bryan Catley's book 'Art Deco and Other Figures' but he offers no biographical details in the back of the book as he does with the other sculptors. In my opinion 'Morante' may be be pseudonym for another sculptor.

CONDITION: Very good with wear & marks to gilting as is expected from age.
