Maurice Bertin - 'Eucalyptus' Bronze Inkwell

A gilt bronze combination coin tray and inkwell delicately cast with Eucalyptus leaves, gum blossoms & gum nuts. Of oval form the ink well is raised from a cluster of leaves with the lid cast in the form of a gum blossom. Signed 'M. Bertin'

French, circa 1920.

*Charles Maurice Favre-Bertin (1887- 1960) - born in Paris and died in Clichy - was a French sculptor, decorator and medalist. Bertin exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1920. He received a gold medal there in 1929 and a medal of honor in 1956 in decorative arts section.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Wear commensurate with age & usage. Glass inernal ink well lacking.
