- Marius Musarra (1910-1991) was of Sicilian origin settling in Vallauris at a young age. At age 16 he was already working at the Saltamacchia and Lunettetta pottery studios before opening his own atelier where he devoted himself to the research of wheel-turned forms, glazes and enamels.
** Often referred to as the “city of 100 potters", Vallauris was an important centre of pottery and ceramics in France dating back to ancient times. The region has abundant clay deposits and in the 20th Century, drew important artists such as Pablo Picasso, Roger Capron and Jean Marias among others to create a creative hub of artists and ceramicists.
