Johann Loetz Witwe - Footed Glass Bowl

A fine and rare footed glass bowl. The interior decorated with a green & blue 'crackled' design graduating down to a deep blue with metallic 'threading'. The undulating applied rim and three ball feet in cobalt blue glass. From Loetz's 'Ausfuehrung 134' & 'Titania'. series. Shape number * PNIII-616, Unsigned. Typical polished pontil mark to base.

  • This shape is usually asscociated with the designs of the artist/designer, Michael Powolny. He collaborated with Loetz in the 1900s up until WWI. He produced a series of designs and shapes that remained in Loetz's repetoire that included the 'Tango' series, which was usually vibrant orange glass contrasted with black or cobalt - rims, handles and feet. This bowl shape is often seen in the Tango series.
