- Jean-Baptiste Gaziello (1891-1957) worked with the iconic Massier ceramicists of Vallauris in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. He later opened his own studio where he never stopped experimenting with shapes and materials - from enamels to mixed oxidized clays, which he turned by hand.
** Often referred to as the “city of 100 potters", Vallauris was an important centre of pottery and ceramics in France dating back to ancient times. The region has abundant clay deposits and in the 20th Century, drew important artists such as Pablo Picasso, Roger Capron and Jean Marias among others to create a creative hub of artists and ceramicists.
