A large Art Nouveau bronze plaque cast with a water nymph on an ocean wave, with a school of fish. Finished in a rich brown patina.
Signed 'Ledru'. Foundry cachet for Thiebaut Frères, Paris.

French, Circa 1900.

** Auguste Ledru (1860-1902) was the father in law of René Lalique, who married his daughter Alice in 1902.
*** Thiebaut Frères was an important French bronze foundry which was active from the late 18th C. up until the 1920s.
