A rare aviation medallion commemorating Costes and Bellonte's flight from Paris to New York in 1930. The obverse with profiles of the pilots. The reverse with a bi-plane with cityscapes of New York and Paris. Signed Anie Mouroux (1887-1978). Stamped 'Cuivre' to edge.
*On 1-2 September 1930 Dieudonné Costes and Maurice Bellonte flew the Breguet 19 Super Bidon "?" /"Point d'Interrogation" from Paris to New York, as the first heavier-than-air aircraft to reach New York in the difficult westbound direction between the North American and European mainlands. They covered approximately 6,000 km in 37 hours 18 minutes.
