A rare and important medallion struck for the occasion of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. Signed P.Turin. Stamped ‘Cuivre’. With the original presentation case.

*Pierre Turin (1891-1968) was an accomplished French medallist. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieur de Beaux Arts and was a pupil of Frederic de Vernon, Auguste Paley and Jules Coulan. He worked predominantly in the 'Art Déco' style. This medallion is his most famous commission.

*The Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris 1925 was a landmark exposition that showcased the very best of France's Fine & Decorative Art, industrial designers and manufacturers. Some of it's notable exhibitors included René Lalique, Emile Jacques Ruhlmann, Pierre
Chareau and Edgar Brandt among others.

What is now broadly described as ‘Art Déco’, encompasses many different style and design movements that include Modernism, Streamline, Machine Age, Cubist, Constructivism, as well as a whole other range of styles and ideas that were disseminated internationally from the Exposition.
