A rare bronze medallion commemorating the launch of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique's luxury passenger ship the 'Ile de France' in 1927. The obverse depicting the bow with a close up of the funnel and bridge. The reverse with the coat of arms of the Ile de France

French, 1927 to mid-20th Century.

** The exact date of minting for this medallion is uncertain. My research has found only a few examples in museum collections and listed in previous auction sales, that date it at 1927. Struck by Artus Bertrand in Paris.
